How do I complete student ethnicity data requests? - Teacher

Ethnicity Data Requests

As part of our data collection and reporting, your named Data Manager (shared with us during the sign-up process) will be asked to provide ethnicity data for your enrolled students, where we have obtained explicit consent for this. This data will support our evaluation of the programme's impact, in line with our data-sharing agreement. We obtain permission to collect ethnicity data in the Parent/Carer Data Form for students in Key Stages 2-4, or in the Data Protection Statement completed on the Hub by Key Stage 5 students. We share the respective forms at the start of the programme and ask these to be completed for all participating students.

How do we complete the Data Request?

School Data Managers will receive an automated email with a link to access the Hub, along with instructions on how to complete the Data Request.

Once Data Managers access the Hub, they will be taken directly to the data request page:

All other fields will already have been completed from the initial registration form. Please note the list of 'students with data permissions' will only include students for which explicit consent has been granted for The Brilliant Club to obtain this data.

a. Please ensure the correct term is selected on the right-hand side.

b. Click 'edit student' on the right-hand side of your screen

c. Enter the ethnicity data

d. Click 'Update Student'

The data is complete when each student has ‘Data Completed: [date]’ next to their name on the list - you may have to refresh the page to see this.

Lead teachers will also receive an automated email to inform them that this process is taking place. If lead teachers would like to complete the Data Request instead, it can be accessed on the Hub via the 'Ethnicity Data Request' panel on your 'My Tasks' dashboard.
